Description
We are looking for a skilled Vehicle
Inspector with expertise in vehicle compliance inspection and regulatory
standards. This role is essential for ensuring that all vehicles inspected at
the weighbridge meet the necessary legal and safety requirements. The ideal
candidate will have practical experience with vehicle compliance, a solid
understanding of relevant legislation, and a high level of integrity.
Requirements
- Educational
Background: Minimum
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive Option) from a recognized
institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on
experience in vehicle inspection, specifically within a regulatory or
government inspection setting.
Responsibilities
- Vehicle
Inspection:
Conduct comprehensive inspections to verify compliance with Exemption
Permit Conditions and Guidelines.
- Axle
Verification:
Inspect lift and dummy axles to confirm correct axle configurations and
weighing.
- Safety
Compliance:
Perform safety checks on heavy vehicles impounded at the weighbridge,
assessing aspects like roadworthiness, load security, hazardous materials,
and mechanical conditions.
- Documentation
Verification:
Review essential documents, including certificates of roadworthiness,
abnormal load permits, and vehicle insurance.
- Emergency
Equipment Check:
Ensure that vehicles have proper emergency equipment, including a fully
stocked First Aid Kit.
- Oversize
Load Inspection:
Collaborate with police officers to inspect and weigh wide loads or
oversized cargo trucks according to axle load regulations.
- Legal
Compliance: Attend
court proceedings related to inspections of non-compliant vehicles.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of all
vehicles inspected, using check forms to document findings.
