Description
Our client in the NGO sector is seeking a dynamic, inclusive, and qualified program director to support an anticipated international donor-funded Inclusive Africa Program (IAP). The IAP is a five-year, multi-million-dollar regional initiative that aims to create socio-economic opportunities for young men and women with disabilities in Kenya, South Africa, and Ghana through enhanced digital accessibility. The program's strategic objective is to cultivate an environment that enables young individuals with disabilities to access digital economic opportunities by advancing digital accessibility policy, facilitating stakeholder engagement, driving digital innovation and entrepreneurship, amplifying youth voices, and establishing industry best practices.

Requirements
- Educational Background: A postgraduate degree in international development, social sciences, management, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in program management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing multi-country, multimillion projects, particularly focused on PWDs or youth development.
- Youth Development Expertise: Proven experience working with youth, particularly in empowering young PWDs, with a deep understanding of their unique needs and challenges.
- Multi-Country Management: Experience in managing programs across multiple countries in Africa, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities in diverse contexts.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing, inclusive teams.
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and develop innovative solutions tailored to youth PWDs.
- Cultural Competency: Experience working in diverse cultural settings, with a strong commitment to inclusivity and respect for local customs.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Disability Inclusion Expertise: Deep understanding of disability rights, inclusion, and the unique challenges faced by youth PWDs.
- Donor Engagement: Proven experience in engaging with international donors and securing funding for large-scale, multi-country programs.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other languages relevant to the region is an advantage.
- Willingness to Travel: willingness and ability to travel frequently across countries of operation and internationally as required.
Responsibilities
- Manage the activity team and subcontractors; provide technical guidance and direction for staff and consultants; facilitate collaborative and open exchanges; and provide backstopping of positions and deliverables when required.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and user-friendly reporting on services provided under the contract.
- Deliver high-level reports and presentations on the activity to the client and IAP partners.
- Promote sustainability of activity interventions through fostering links to other programs, identifying new local partners, and contributing to institutional strengthening.
- Lead overall implementation and management of the program throughout its life cycle, and ensure the program succeeds on its established goals, objectives, targets and deliverables.
- Ensure equitable, inclusive, mutually respectful partnerships with all consortium members and the co-design, co-implementation and co-evaluation of activities.
- Provide leadership, inspiration, technical guidance, operational management, and general quality assurance for the program.
- Hold primary responsibility for program performance and budget management, helping to increase operational efficiencies and inspire innovative and cost-effective approaches.
- Lead planning, oversight, and coordination of all program activities and successful execution of technical assistance.
- Ensure the successful recruitment, hiring, onboarding, management, professional development, and supervision of all staff, consultants, and any team members helping to implement the program. Coordinate with all consortium partners to ensure the same rigorous standards are being upheld.
- Consistently enhance operational efficiencies, adhere to compliance requirements from donors and counterparts, and lead innovations in service delivery.
- Oversee development and submission of program deliverables on time and within budget.
- Represent the program in the country, regionally/internationally.
- Establish and maintain a clear organizational structure with specific roles, responsibilities, and accountability
