Description
Our client in the NGO sector is seeking an IT specialist with a focus on desktop support and Office 365 administration to support the anticipated international donor-funded Inclusive Africa Program (IAP). The IAP is a five-year, multimillion-dollar regional initiative aimed at creating socio-economic opportunities for young men and women with disabilities in Kenya, South Africa, and Ghana by enhancing digital accessibility. The IT Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring that the program's IT infrastructure is robust, secure, and fully operational, with a specific emphasis on supporting desktop environments and Office 365 applications.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, ITIL) are highly preferred.
- Proven experience in desktop support and Office 365 administration with a strong technical background in end-user computing and cloud services.
- Solid understanding of network protocols, security principles, and best practices in IT support.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues with Microsoft Office 365, Windows operating systems, and desktop hardware.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity threats and the implementation of appropriate countermeasures, particularly within the Office 365 environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and quality in work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience with ICT project management, particularly in desktop support and cloud services.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support for desktop environments, including the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computers, printers, and other peripherals.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on user devices, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.
- Manage user profiles, permissions, and settings within the Office 365 environment, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Conduct regular software updates and patches for user devices to maintain security and performance standards.
- Offer end-user training and support on the use of Office 365 applications and other software tools.
- Administer Office 365 tenant, including user account management, license assignment, and troubleshooting email and collaboration tools.
- Configure and maintain security settings in Office 365 to protect data and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Monitor the Office 365 environment for performance issues, security risks, and optimization opportunities.
- Implement and manage data backup and recovery solutions within the Office 365 suite.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot network issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime.
- Implement security measures to protect the organization’s digital assets from threats, including firewalls, antivirus solutions, and network monitoring tools.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of the IT environment, including desktop configurations, software licenses, and Office 365 settings.
- Prepare regular reports on IT performance, user support activities, and system health for management review.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for the procurement of IT equipment and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Oversee the maintenance of IT hardware and software inventories, ensuring timely renewals and replacements.
