Description

Our client, a reputable organization in the health sector, is seeking to recruit a Finance Manager who will be responsible for managing the overall financial operations of the hospital and ensuring effective implementation of sound accounting, budgeting, and financial control systems in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the organization’s strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will provide financial leadership across the hospital’s Nairobi and Mombasa branches, ensuring efficient financial management, compliance, and sustainable growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) or ACCA qualification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ progressive experience in financial management, with at least 3 years at a senior management level, MUST be in a  healthcare setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, taxation, and relevant Kenyan financial legislation.
  • Proven experience in multi-branch operations, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Excellent understanding of hospital financial operations, including insurance billing, revenue cycle management, and patient accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or hospital management systems).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the preparation of accurate and timely financial and management reports to support decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and ensure prudent utilization of financial resources.
  • Lead the hospital’s annual budgeting and forecasting process, including revisions and variance analysis.
  • Develop and monitor financial performance indicators to ensure alignment with strategic and operational targets.
  • Guide department heads in preparing budgets, business plans, and capital investment proposals.
  • Review and reconcile accounts on a monthly basis and ensure timely financial closing and reporting.
  • Benchmark operating costs and recommend efficiency measures to optimize resource utilization.
  • Maintain an up-to-date asset register and ensure compliance with asset management policies.
  • Oversee revenue management including billing, insurance claims processing, and debt collection.
  • Ensure timely submission of statutory deductions and compliance with relevant laws (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, VAT, Withholding Tax, etc.).
  • Manage hospital cash flow, banking operations, and treasury functions to ensure adequate liquidity.
  • Facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of audit queries.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and performance reports.
  • Ensure integration and accuracy of all financial transactions within the hospital’s management information system.
  • Provide advisory support to management on investments, cost control, and business expansion opportunities.
  • Supervise, develop, and appraise the finance team to enhance capacity and performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve financial awareness and accountability across the organization.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
