Description

The Business Development Manager - Trade Marketing (General Trade + Merchandising) is responsible for driving business growth and maximizing sales opportunities within the general trade sector. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of trade marketing strategies, merchandising techniques, and market dynamics. The Business Development Manager will develop and implement initiatives to enhance brand visibility, optimize product placement, and increase sales volumes through effective trade marketing strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience in trade marketing, business development, or sales management, preferably in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry.
  • Strong understanding of general trade channels, merchandising principles, and trade marketing best practices.
  • Proven track record of driving sales growth and achieving targets in a competitive market environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, market research, and reporting tools to derive actionable insights.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas and influence decision-makers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute trade marketing strategies to achieve sales targets and market share goals.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to align trade marketing initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Ensure optimal product placement and visibility at retail outlets to maximize brand impact.
  • Develop merchandising plans and guidelines to guide field teams and retailers in effective product display.
  • Monitor and evaluate merchandising effectiveness, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and retail partners.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with customers to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Negotiate trade terms, promotional activities, and pricing agreements to drive sales and profitability.
  • Provide sales teams with the necessary tools, training, and resources to effectively sell products at the point of purchase.
  • Develop sales promotion programs, incentives, and trade marketing materials to support sales efforts.
  • Conduct product training sessions for retail staff to enhance product knowledge and selling skills.
  • Monitor market performance, including sales trends, competitor activities, and consumer feedback.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on trade marketing activities, sales performance, and market insights.
  • Use data analytics and market research to identify opportunities and optimize trade marketing strategies
