Description
Our Client, a leading Law firm in Nairobi, is looking to hire an accountant who will be responsible for managing the financial activities of the law firm, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and efficient handling of all financial transactions. The accountant will also provide financial insights to support decision-making processes within the firm.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Manage accounts payable and ensure timely payment of invoices.
- Handle accounts receivable, including client billing and collections.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Perform regular reconciliations of accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
- Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit purposes.
- Process payroll for firm employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage payroll taxes and other deductions in compliance with legal requirements.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
- Liaise with tax authorities and manage any tax-related issues or audits.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Manage client trust accounts, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
- Perform regular reconciliations of trust accounts and prepare related reports.
- Utilize accounting software and other financial tools to maintain accurate financial records.
- Ensure the integrity and security of financial data within the firm's systems.
- Collaborate with legal and administrative staff to ensure efficient financial operations.
- Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial staff and partners.
